Lotto Max Jackpot Reaches Record-Breaking $65 Million
Monday, June 10, 2019

The Lotto Max jackpot is a record-breaking $65 million - the highest single lottery jackpot in Canadian history. The jackpot has climbed to over $60 million for the first time, since changes to the rules increased the jackpot cap to $70 million.

Nobody matched all seven numbers to win the $60 million Lotto Max jackpot on Friday, June 7 - causing it to roll over to the record-breaking amount. No one matched seven numbers to win one of five MaxMillions prizes either. As a result, 10 MaxMillions prizes are on offer alongside the jackpot in the draw on Tuesday, June 11 - bringing the total amount on offer up to $75 million, in addition to all the prizes in the lower divisions.

Though the draw represents the largest Lotto Max jackpot in the lottery’s history, it is not the largest ever total value on offer in a Canadian lottery draw. In October 2018, a $60 million Lotto Max jackpot combined with 55 MaxMillions prizes, meaning a total amount of $115 million was up for grabs. The jackpot was won by a single ticket, while 27 of the MaxMillions prizes were won.

The Lotto Max draw takes place at 21.15 ET on Tuesday, June 11, with the MaxMillions draws taking place shortly after.

About Canada Lotto Max

Lotto Max began in 2009, with draws taking place every Friday night. Originally, seven numbers and a Bonus Ball number were drawn from a pool comprising the numbers 1 to 49. Matching three main numbers would win you a Free Play, while matching all seven main numbers would land you the jackpot.

In May 2019, changes were made to the rules of the game: the jackpot cap was increased from $60 million to $70 million; a second draw was added on Tuesday evenings; more prize tiers including the Bonus Ball were introduced; and the number pool was increased from 49 to 50. The overall odds of winning a Lotto Max prize are now 1 in 7.
